Rainy Day Blues....

This morning we woke up to stormy Fall weather....
We had rain, thunder and lightning all day into the evening.
It was the perfect sort of weather to enjoy homemade chicken noodle soup.
 I used a recipe that
 Rosina
 shared over on her blog....
 It was yummy!
The kids finished up their school this afternoon...
While Freckles went off to play for the day ....

Then I got out the rainy day bag of crafts.
I knew it would soon come in handy.

Freckles started a little Nature scrapbook...
So cute, made by American Girl.
Michael's Crafts has a whole American Girl craft line in their store.
I had picked up a few crafts a while back just for days like this.

Then we pulled out this sweet craft...
We stitched the remainder of the afternoon away.
This craft is perfect for a beginning hand sewer.
All the holes are pre poked out for you....

It was also a lesson in patience. Freckles did a nice job...
Yet, still has to finish her raccoon up later. Mama just sews a little bit faster...
So she spent the rest of the rainy daylight playing with the raccoon
I finished and read up in her bedroom.

Oh did you notice her bed???
I painted it last week while it was really hot outside.
This was on my to do list for Fall projects. Freckles chose a Robin's egg blue paint...
Which will turn into more of a girly nature room.
 She loves it!

I think the little raccoon likes it too! I also finished her
second pair of vintage sheets Jammie pants the other day...
 Everything is coordinating!

It might be a blue rainy day...
But surely Freckles isn't too blue about it...
She is having a ball jumping on her bed!

Okay, okay...
The sun is going down soon and Freckles decided to read a bit more...
As she listens to the rain hitting her window.

It's going to be a blustery night ahead!

The Many Faces...

During our trip to the Antique Mall with my friend last week. I had a funny thought about all the faces I had looked at within the couple hours we were going through all the booths. These are just a few out of 100's of faces you would come across in such a place. There were so many faces I would have loved to bring home. I think I saw at least 20~25 Raggedy Ann and Andy's!

There were many Bob's... And Jamima's.

There were funny faces, happy faces, some a little sad....

Some were a bit mellow and sleepy...

The best of them all was the one who winked at me...
it's amazing how many faces you will find...
have a Happy day!!!

ThE CaKe KeePeR...

I am sharing my Rednesday Reds hosted by It's a Very Cherry World! I  just couldn't wait to share!
Me & Freckles went out with a friend last week and scavenged through an Antique shop for hours... I spyed this beautiful Cake Keeper... But just wasn't in the cards to buy it. My girlfriend said I should take it up front to see if maybe the seller is having a sale.... So we took it up...and....sadly there was no sale that day... boo hoo.... As my friend was checking out her goodies, she surprisingly added the Cake Keeper to her bill. How sweet!!! I always wanted a pretty Cake Keeper in my colors... and she gifted it to me. What a dear friend!

I took it home... thrilled beyond measure!
Of course I gave her a gift in return...
She is now the proud owner of one of my dolls!

Now I just need to bake a " Just Because Cake"!
Since there aren't any birthday's until November!
Isn't she a beauty?
Have a Happy Rednesday!

Getting Ready For Bed... Sewing Pajama Pants From Vintage Sheets...

Finally I have gotten around to this sewing project. I have collected some vintage sheets to make some pajama's for my daughter then I will use the scraps to make her a matching quilt...  There are so many Autumn projects I have on my list. Several include re-painting her antique iron bed, and dresser as well as her hope chest... Then adding in some refurbished decor to her room. She had decided she wanted her room to be shabby chic & feminine with robins egg blues, yellows, greens, white and some pink. So the sheets were bought thrifting for such projects. We found these sheets for about 2 bucks each... Yahoo!

I will be making a couple nightgowns and one more pair of p.j. pants from the sheets. She loves her first pair. She put them on late this afternoon and has been wearing them since... She is ready for bed and the sun isn't even down as I write this post. As Home schoolers we can wear Jammie's all day if we want... which she actually loves to do much of.  The girl has more Jammie's then regular clothes I tell you! She loves comfort. Well, I guess you can say she is like her mama.. Since well, I do the same thing, LOL!

The pajama pants turned out utterly darling and feminine...
The flowers are sweet ... and I added a little bit of lace trim..
To make her feel even more dainty!

Tonight she will be tucked in her vintage sheets wearing her vintage sheet p.j bottoms while I read her a  bed time story. We read almost every night. It has become a ritual since my children were babes. it is a wonderful way to bond, and settle down for a long nights slumber. Bedtime is a cozy time... Even cozier when you have special pajama's don't you think?

3 hours to go before bedtime!
Night ya'll!

My Happy Colors....

Ever since I was a little girl my favorite color was red... I am not sure why... It just was. It's funny how most everyone has their favorite color. Why is that I wonder? I never lost the love for red... It is a happy color to me. I realize though I don't really wear much of it though.. Maybe because I would look like a round tamatoe in it... But there is plenty of it throughout my home and in much of my work. I really believe colors set a tone to moods.

After spending 11 years in Washington it was certain that I would need color around me since much of the time was spent in gloomy & rainy weather. Many years I had spent very ill, depressed and unmotivated due to the lack of sun. I was poorly deficient in D, B12, and iron. I have most recently overcome all those syptoms, one of which was moving to a sunny state. I have found not only the sun makes me feel a lot better, but color in general does too. That I guess is why I have been so colorful lately in many of my posts as well. Funny maybe,
But it's true. With the colder somewhat darker Seasons approaching
I will be holding onto my happy colors to get me through the gloomy days.

I made this cheery Dresden style table mat for my morning tea.... well not just for my tea, just a little something to spread the cheer throughout for the coming Seasons. I do adore the lovely colors of Autumn mind you, but this year I am going to be the odd ball and decorate with cheery colors. I 'm not even going to get out my Fall decor this year... well, most of it ...

This is just bringing a little sunshine in.. which makes me happy.

Well, this was my first table mat in this style, which i sort of messed up on, but will perfect and may just make a few for my shop soon. Just to spread that happy color around! We all need it!

Hope this has brightened your day!
Happy Fall... It's official!
