They Are Finally Up!

It is hard to believe that it has been almost a month since our move.
It is also a short month. My dear Mr. Darling is still recovering from
his ankle sprain and was unable to hang my curtain rod...
So our friend Kenny came over and hung it for me!!!
Except, it wasn't ready for the curtains. I had to sew them up first.
Well, you know I ended up really sick this last week.
So the window has been wide open and empty all this time.

I couldn't seem to find any draperies I liked store bought.
I looked and looked and knew I was also on a budget.
Curtains can be expensive...
and now a days they only sell you one panel per package.
As I was browsing around I saw a happy checkered
table cloth by Better Homes And Gardens.
I really liked it, but not for a table.
My little mind was thinking...curtains!
And it was on clearance!!!!
So there you have it... I cut it in half, sewed in a rod pocket
and paired them with some creamy sheers I also found on clearance!
The whole project cost less than $30.00.

I finally felt better enough to put them together and hang them up today.
What a difference window treatments make to a room!!!
It feels so cozy.
And, I love how it looks with my little lamps and
my antique rocking chair which was given to me from my Step Mama...
which belonged to her Grandmother.
I am honored to have it as my own.

Now it's a cozy little corner next to our
little vintage children book collection.
I will share more little corners of our home soon!
Have a Happy Day!

Turkey Pot Pie Pockets

Looking for something easy, cheap and good.
This is a great snack, lunch or even
a light dinner and kids LOVE them !
I know...
Since they have been tested in our home.
All thumbs up for this one!
************

Here is the recipe
for the dough:

2 1/2 C. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 3/4 sticks butter, cut into chunks
1/3 C. super cold water
1 Tbl. vinegar
****
*Combine flour, salt and baking powder in mixing bowl.
*Cut butter in with pastry blender.
*Cut until you see the butter's been cut into little pieces,
none of them bigger than a raisin.
* Combine the water and vinegar and add it to the flour mixture.
* Stir slightly until the water is evenly distributed.
*Use your hands ( clean of course) to squeeze the dough together,
kneading just until it comes together in a ball.
* Divide into six equal parts.
* Roll out each part separately until about 1/4 inch thick.
* If you want a perfect circle, place a small sauce pan lid
on top of dough and trim around it, like a cookie cutter.
*Set aside.
* preheat your oven to 425 degrees

Ingredients for the
pot pie mixture:

2 cups diced deli meat of your choice
( I used turkey)
1 cup frozen mixed veggies; with carrots, peas and corn
1/4 tsp. pepper
one 10 oz. can cream of potato soup, undiluted
egg wash
6 slices provolone cheese ( or cheese of your choice)
*****
*Make an egg wash with one egg and 1 Tbl. water and whisk
*Now, take one of your dough circles and
brush some egg wash around the edges.
*Place a slice of cheese onto the middle of the
round and top it with 1/2 to 2/3 cup of filling mixture.
* Fold the dough over the filling so you have a half circle.
*Press sides closed, brush a bit of egg wash on top and
cut a small slash in the top to allow steam to escape while it bakes.
*Repeat these steps for the remaining dough and filling.
*Bake 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
* Remove pocket pies from oven to cool before you take a bite.
The contents will be VERY HOT!!!

Use the dough recipe and fill them with whatever you want...
Make them all different!
The kids will love 'em!
Enjoy!!!

Way Back When.....

Remember this fella way back when?
Look again!
For the last several years or so, General Mills has brought back
some of the old designs.
Lucky Charms, Cheerios,Trix
and Cinnamon Toast Crunch to name a few.

I fancy the old vintage styles.
My daughter found these old school cereals at Target
the other day when we were shopping.

So, the sucker that I am picked up a
couple boxes of the nostalgic cereal.

Of course I had to have me a bowl!

They're Magically delicious!
Oh to be a kid again!

Be Still......

"Be still and know that I am God"

Psalm 46:10
As much as I think or feel I can do it all myself!
I must remember to
be still.
I have worked non stop for the past
month and a half trying to prepare for our move.
It is almost finished.
( the unpacking part)
Meanwhile my little family ended up ill,
my hubby sprained his ankle, which left me with
minimal help towards the end.
Oh no, But God is good.
Our dear friends called me out of the blue and said
they were coming to help me get things done!
I didn't even have to ask.
They came and helped us out...
And now there's light at the end of the tunnel!

Until I ended up sick this last week too!
It was a rough, miserable week.
Until this little voice in my mind repeated
"Be still".
I opened my Bible.
And was lovingly reminded to
be still
and know that God is in control.
Never to worry, never to fret.
He is in control!
I needed that gentle reminder.
It truly was a better day for me...
I was able to put our daughters room together!
I know I cannot do things all on my own.

Who Said....

Laundry is not fun?
Well, it all depends on how you look at it.
Laundry is life.
I know, I know....
I don't always like doing it myself.
But, why get bothered about it.
You too can have fun!!

I know I did a similar post about laundry last August...
But us ladies need to be inspired more often than none....

A good place to start is, trying to make it a happy, cheery place.
Decorate a bit.
I have collected some fun vintage pieces,
folk art, as well as Black Americana.

These girls are my little helpers.
I just take one little look at them and smile.
I know I am not alone.

Have little containers on hand that hold smelly yummies...
you know, detergent, fabric softeners and such.
Take a whiff of lavender and it will surely put you under a happy spell.

Lastly don't forget to.....

It takes more muscles to frown.
Have a happy laundry day from my home to yours!

What Rhymes With ORANGE?

As children do...they try to rhyme.
But to their surprise there is nothing that rhymes with orange.
Unless of course you start making up your own words.
Does anyone out there in Bloggy world know
if there is a word that rhymes with orange?

It all came about when we
were enjoying our orange juice.

Our friends have orange groves, so we got tons
of oranges and blood oranges which are red inside.

Maybe we're just thinking too hard!
I am just going to enjoy my orange juice.
Do let me know if you think of a word...
Just don't hurt yourself trying.

Happy Tuesday to you!!!

A Valentine Blessing

In our house, Valentines Day is everyday.
We truly wouldn't know
LOVE
if it were not for what Christ did for His people.
It puts me in awe when I think of how much God
LOVES
those who believe in Him.
Our faith is in Him alone and for that we are blessed.

Though we are still trying to settle in our new home
with no time to bake Valentines this year,
we just picked up some scrumptious soft
sugar cookies with frosting and oodles of sprinkles from the bakery.
Oh, and what is Valentines without these little heart candies.
These have been around for like ever since I can remember!

We are spending our Valentines Day with our Church family.
A delightful day at Church,
filling our hearts with
LOVE
and our souls with the Spirit.
May you have a blessed day filled with
LOVE
With those you
LOVE!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

In The Breakfast Nook

Every morning I have a cup of hot tea with sweet cream in it.
Yum Yum!
As I was sipping my morning tea in my
little breakfast nook I started chuckling to myself.
How funny it was to see that my table
cloth and my mug almost matched!

That was certainly not planned.
It gave me a good laugh though.

I am thoroughly enjoying our new little nook area.
The morning sunlight comes in and brightens up the whole house.
It even makes my tea taste better!

Missy agrees.
Have a sunshiny day!

HOME

Well, finally after one month of sorting, packing, cleaning,
moving, unpacking, sorting, organizing and trying
to get into some sort of routine we are moved into our new home!

We are all pretty exhausted.
Yet, I must thank our dear Church Family,
friends and neighbors for their help in our move.
We couldn't have done it without them.
And for my dear friends who brought dinner over!
We so needed that!
We are truly grateful and blessed that
the Lord made this move successful.

With a little homey touches,
this house is becoming a comfortable
cozy home for my little family.
We really LOVE it so far!

The children are thrilled with their new home and
the closeness to our Church and friends as well.
Mr. Darling is also settling in to his study space.
He has already been busy at his studies in his
second semester of Seminary this year.
I even got some sweeet miniature red roses for Valentines!
I am so in love!
I have been hanging up all the art work from my
many talented artist friends!
These are just a few that make our home even brighter.
I will show you more pictures of our little cozy place soon....

Just wanted to pop in real quick
to say hello and catch up!
Have a delightful day!
