Snack On This....

Our friends have surely toiled on their garden this year.
They brought some goodies to Church to share with everyone.
I took this huge zucchini to make a yummy snack.
It was over a foot long!

Of course, I had to share the recipe with you...
just in case you want to try it out.
It is really moist and delicious.
The neat part is that it is filled with veggies and you can't even tell.
Perfect for the picky eater.

* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
* 3 eggs
* 1 cup vegetable oil
* 2 1/4 cups white sugar
* 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 2 cups grated zucchini
* 1 cup chopped walnuts (Optional)

~DIRECTIONS~

1. Grease and flour two 8 x 4 inch pans.
Preheat oven to
325 degrees F
(165 degrees C).
2. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, soda,
and cinnamon together in a bowl.

3. Beat eggs, oil, vanilla, and sugar together in a large bowl.
Add sifted ingredients to the creamed mixture, and beat well.
Stir in zucchini and nuts until well combined.
Pour batter into prepared pans.

A Sip Of Tea.....

Every afternoon this week,
Freckles & I have sat down for a delightful cup of tea together.
These are the moments I treasure as a Mother.

I am sure she feels the same way.
We have promised to keep the Art Of Tea alive together,
and have quiet moments sipping a cup of brewed sweetness.

These are the cozy times, spent with my daughter.
And...
May I add, she is quite the character.

She placed the tea cozy on her head while poring her water into her cup.
I just giggled myself silly.
I told her she reminded me of the Pope.
She asked " who's that?"
I told her I would tell her another time...
The tea was getting cold.

We will surely keep this tradition of afternoon tea together.
It has been quit a lovely experience with my darling girl,
whom I cherish these moments with.

That our daughters may be as corner stones,
polished after the similitude of a palace.

In The Class Room...

Since home schooling our children for the last 9 years,
I began collecting old school items, books, globes, etc...

We have two old desks...
One that is from the 30's-40's
as, the other dates around the 50's or later.
We LOVE our oldie...it is perfect for our daughter.
The top lifts up so she is able to store her books and papers.
It even has a place for an ink well!

Our collection of books have grown quite a bit over the years.
I find myself hunting down the old vintage children books, classics and readers.
Keeping a basket full of rotating books,
keeps my little girl interested in all the books we have collected.
We like anything that yesteryear has to offer...like flashcards.
I found these really cute flashcards by Martha Stewart,
which had just the sweetest vintage, yesteryear feel to them...
who could resist the sweet drawings of alphabet animals?
Our globe was a great find from junking around...
$2.00 for an old globe dating around the late 40's-50's.
We love it and we use it!

We are still working on a few more things before we officially start school,
plus we are waiting on our supplies and books for the year....
Though we are always teaching and learning anyway.
Patience !!!

It Came To An End....

My son Maestro just got back from a 5 week Summer Vacation with our dear friends. We are so blessed that he had the opportunity to go to Washington, hang out with his best friend, and old stomping grounds. His time there started with haircuts for the boy's !
(My boy is the one in the black tee)
He spent 5 days at The Gorge, camping out with his buds during The Creation Fest..

I was told it was an amazing place overlooking God's creation .....

They had an uplifting time together...
listening to some of their favorite bands.

And... new friendships were made while they were there.
In the latter part of the weeks..He spent time just hanging out with his friends.
Going tubing in the river was one highlighted adventure.
They spent many days at Whidbey Island, just being guy's!

He was able to play his music to many friends
as well as an open mic nite at a music shoppe.

They cruised around on bikes.

And... listened to their tunes.

While finding time to visit the old neighborhood friends.

There were many goofy times

And special memories made.
Yet, Summer has to come to an end some time.

Savoring A Perfect Pitcher Summer....

With Summer coming to an end..
We thought we would use up the rest of our citrus fruits.
My daughter used her mini pitcher for her batch of lemon aid.
Isn't it the cutest little thing you ever saw?

I used up the tangerine cuties and mixed it in my vintage pyrex citrus pitcher.
Tangerine juice is YUMMY !!!!

Oh the things you can find while junking !!!
$ 2.00 is a bargain in my department!

Summer has surely flew by...
School is about to begin, once we have all our Home School curriculum together.
Maestro will be entering the 10th grade while Freckles will be in 4th !!!
We are all excited to start up again after a very hot Summer in California.
Mr. Darling will also be starting his second year in Seminary.
There will be a lot of learning going on here.
So, in the meantime we will be sipping and savoring
our Pitcher perfect Summer in mason jars !!!
